These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Bike Universe, including our website, community platform and related features. By using Bike Universe, you agree to these Terms.

1. About Bike Universe

Bike Universe is an independent cycling community project operated from Portugal. The platform is designed to help cyclists discover and share cycling-related places, events, businesses, services and other useful community information.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use account-based features of Bike Universe. By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.

You are responsible for providing accurate information where required, maintaining the security of your account and for activity performed through your account.

You must not impersonate another person or organization, misuse another user's account or attempt to gain unauthorized access to Bike Universe or its systems.

3. Community Content

Bike Universe allows users to submit or publish content such as places, descriptions, photographs, events, reviews, ratings and other cycling-related information.

You remain responsible for content that you submit. You must have the necessary rights or permission to publish it and must not knowingly submit content that is unlawful, fraudulent, misleading, defamatory, abusive, infringing or otherwise violates the rights of others.

By submitting content to Bike Universe, you grant Bike Universe a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display and technically process that content as reasonably necessary to operate, promote and improve the platform. You retain ownership of your content.

4. Places and Community Information

Information about cycling locations, businesses, routes, facilities and other places may be submitted by users, business representatives or administrators.

Although we may review, edit or moderate information, Bike Universe does not guarantee that every listing, description, location, opening time, contact detail or other community-provided fact is complete, accurate or current.

Users should independently verify information that is important for their plans, safety or purchasing decisions.

5. Events and Cycling Activities

Bike Universe may allow users and organizers to create, publish, discover or join cycling events and activities.

Unless Bike Universe is expressly identified as the organizer of a specific event, the event is organized by the person, club, business or organization identified in the relevant listing, not by Bike Universe.

Cycling and outdoor activities involve inherent risks. Participants are responsible for assessing their own abilities, equipment, route conditions, weather, traffic and other relevant safety factors and for following applicable laws and organizer instructions.

6. Business Listings and Claims

Bike Universe may allow businesses or their representatives to add, manage or claim business listings and provide verification or contact information.

If you claim or manage a business listing, you confirm that you are authorized to represent that business or otherwise have permission to manage the information submitted.

We may request information reasonably necessary to review a business claim and may approve, reject, suspend or revoke a claim where the information cannot be verified or where misuse is suspected.

7. Paid Features and Payments

Some Bike Universe features may be free while others may require payment, a subscription or a one-time fee. The applicable price and conditions will be shown before a purchase or subscription is completed.

Payments may be processed through Stripe. Bike Universe does not directly store full payment card details. Payment processing is also subject to the payment provider's applicable terms and policies.

Details concerning cancellations, refunds and applicable payment conditions are provided in our Refund Policy and, where relevant, at the time of purchase.

8. Reviews and Ratings

Reviews and ratings should reflect genuine experiences and must not be used for spam, manipulation, harassment, impersonation or intentionally misleading activity.

We may moderate or remove reviews that violate these Terms, applicable law or platform rules.

9. Acceptable Use

You must not use Bike Universe to:

• violate applicable law or the rights of another person;
• publish fraudulent, deceptive or intentionally misleading content;
• upload content you do not have the right to use;
• harass, threaten or abuse other users;
• send spam or use the platform for unauthorized mass promotion;
• introduce malware or attempt to disrupt the platform;
• scrape, probe or access systems or data without authorization;
• circumvent security, payment or access restrictions;
• use Bike Universe for fraudulent transactions or activities.

10. Moderation and Account Actions

We may review, hide, edit or remove content where reasonably necessary to operate the platform, enforce these Terms, respond to complaints, protect users or comply with legal obligations.

We may restrict, suspend or terminate access to account-based features in cases of serious or repeated violations, fraud, abuse, security risks or unlawful activity.

11. Intellectual Property

Bike Universe branding, platform design, software and original content provided by Bike Universe are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

These Terms do not transfer ownership of Bike Universe intellectual property to users. Third-party names, trademarks and content remain the property of their respective owners.

12. Third-Party Services and Links

Bike Universe may integrate with or link to third-party services, websites, maps, payment providers and other external resources. Third-party services operate under their own terms and policies.

Bike Universe is not responsible for the availability, content or independent practices of third-party services.

13. Availability of the Service

We aim to keep Bike Universe available and useful, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Features may be changed, improved, suspended or discontinued as the platform develops.

We may perform maintenance or make technical changes where reasonably necessary for security, reliability or development of the service.

14. Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Bike Universe is not responsible for losses resulting from reliance on inaccurate community-provided information, participation in independently organized cycling activities, interactions between users, or the acts or omissions of third-party businesses and service providers.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law, including mandatory consumer protection rights.

15. Privacy and Cookies

Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. Our use of cookies and similar technologies is described in our Cookie Policy.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as Bike Universe develops, including when features, business models or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated date.

Where required by applicable law, we will provide appropriate notice of material changes.

17. Governing Law and Consumer Rights

These Terms are governed by applicable Portuguese law, without limiting any mandatory rights that consumers may have under Portuguese or European Union law.

If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms removes any mandatory legal protections or rights that apply to you.
