Miradouro da Bandeira – Atlantic Coast & Forest Viewpoint

Miradouro da Bandeira is one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Figueira da Foz region, located high above Quiaios in the beautiful Serra da Boa Viagem. Situated approximately 250 metres above sea level, it is the highest of the municipality's nine official viewpoints. Nearby stands the Bandeira geodetic marker, at 261.88 metres — the highest point of Serra da Boa Viagem. From here, visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Portugal's Atlantic coastline stretching north towards Praia de Mira and even farther on exceptionally clear days. Below the viewpoint lie Praia da Murtinheira, Praia de Quiaios, the village of Quiaios and the extensive green landscape of the Mata Nacional das Dunas de Quiaios. The contrast between the deep blue Atlantic Ocean, seemingly endless sandy beaches, coastal dunes and vast pine forests creates an unforgettable panorama. For cyclists, Miradouro da Bandeira has another important advantage: it can be reached entirely by paved road, making it accessible not only to MTB and gravel riders but also to road cyclists. The climb through Serra da Boa Viagem adds a rewarding challenge, with beautiful forest scenery along the way. The viewpoint also features a picnic area with tables, making it an excellent place to rest, enjoy a snack and admire the surrounding landscape. It is also a highlight of PR3 FIG – Rota da Boa Viagem, a scenic walking route of approximately 12.6 km through the hills, forests and natural landscapes of Serra da Boa Viagem.
